Mining-history list members with an interest in promoting mining heritage
sites may be interested in an on-line conference to be held 27-28 February,
2001. The conference is primary concerned with Australian sites but the
organisers would welcome an international input. Notice of the conference
was originally posted to the industrial archaeology list
<[log in to unmask]> but, given the prominence of mining in Australia's
industrial past, some discussion on the involvement of people in mining
heritage would be expected. The organisers say that 'The theme is involving
communities - thinking about really active participation - and there will be
forums on specific topics and some "lunchtime" debates'.

Notice, as posted to the ind-arch list.

Australia ICOMOS and the Australian Heritage Commission are holding an
ON-LINE conference 27-28 February, 2001. The conference topic is 'Involving
people in local heritage places'.
This is a first! It is hoped that an on-line conference will enable more
people working locally to directly participate. All are welcome to
participate - heritage professionals, community organisations, local
government people - It promises to be an exciting event - DON'T MISS IT!!
To participate in the conference, you need to REGISTER. You can do this
on-line at

attached.
Please distribute this to anyone who you think might be interested.
