The School of Arts, Design and Media is vibrant and expanding, teaching around 1500 undergraduate and postgraduate students.  Its Media and Cultural studies provision is one of the largest in the country, rated excellent by the QAA, and with superb facilities and a dynamic and expanding portfolio.  A number of exciting opportunities have now arisen to add strength in the following areas.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Media Studies (ref: ACAL48/01)

This is a new post in which you will play a key role in the teaching and development of media studies modules at undergraduate and taught postgraduate level. A good honours degree in a relevant area and a higher degree, preferably at PhD level, are essential as is experience of teaching in higher education.  As well as contributing to existing modules you will also develop your own specialist teaching within the field.  Expertise in aspects of media institutions, globalisation, media regulation and new media/media technologies would be advantageous. You will have a good research record and will be expected to contribute to the team’s research profile in media studies.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Video/New Media Production (ref: ADML108/01)

This is a new post in which you will play a key role in the teaching and development of video production at undergraduate and taught postgraduate level.  A good first degree in a relevant area is essential, as is a postgraduate qualification and/or equivalent training or experience in video/new media production. As well as contributing to existing modules you will also develop your own specialist teaching within the field.  Recent experience of independent and/or broadcast programme production is required, as is teaching experience, preferably within Higher Education. You will have broad based video production skills in single and multi-camera production, and specialist skills in one or more of the following: directing, script-writing, camera/lighting, editing, multi-media or new media programme making.  You will also contribute to the video production team’s research profile.

Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Radio (ref: ADML107/01)

This opportunity is available as one full time post or as two part time posts.

You will have a good first degree in a relevant area, experience of teaching radio production, preferably in Higher Education, and specialist skills in radio in at least two of the following areas: commercial production, radio drama, radio presentation, documentary production, community radio, experimental radio, radio management, internet radio. You will have recent experience in the radio industry, up to date digital production skills, a good track record of broadcast radio work of professional standing and/or published research in the area of Radio Studies.  You will also contribute to research in the area of Radio Studies.

Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Dance and Performing Arts (ref: ADML105/01)
17.5 hours per week

You will have vision and imagination as well as a good honours degree in Dance/Performing Arts, and either teaching experience or postgraduate qualifications.  You will have experience in and a working knowledge of modern dance genres coupled with a proven record of good research or professional practice.  Success in locating appropriate funding sources for research and professional practice and the ability to foster good public relations is highly desirable.
