Two excellent Learning on Screen Events are coming up.  Both are open to
non-members.  The Leicester DVD course, however, is limited to 20 people to

DVD Authoring
Robin Sewell of Cambridge Multimedia and and Matthew Dilley of Digiverse
Catch up on the latest technology for learning delivery, DVD.  What is it?
What does it offer education?  How are others using DVD? How does it work?
How can you create your own learning DVD?

Cambridge multimedia have over 30 DVD titles now completed having been at
the forefront of analogue and digital technology since the mid 80=B9s.
This course will include an overview of DVD technology and theory and
practice in authoring DVD in an educational context.

DVD brings unprecedented capacity, clarity and interactivity to video,
making it an ideal vehicle for delivery of screen based learning.   The day
will include an overview of the DVD format to include installed base, DVD
functionality and an explanation of the authoring process. DVD authoring
using the Sonic Solutions  package will be demonstrated and there will be a=
n
opportunity to try your hand at DVD authoring.  The day aims to demystify
the DVD authoring process so that you can find what you need to start takin=
g
advantage of this new medium.

Video Streaming
William Garrison -  Media Development Centre =AD University of Portsmouth
The Media Development Centre has three years experience with streaming
media within Education.  The Centre has moved from delivering linear video
on the internet to the design and development of highly interactive,
student-centred learning resources.

During the day the practical aspects of designing, developing and
delivering these video-rich projects will be explored.  There will be a
chance to experience video streaming in a hands-on session and the future
effects of these powerful resources on Education will also be discussed.
