Current awareness service sourcing news and documents from the internet :

I download selected press releases & other documents from "certain websites", as
and when they are published.
I log on to the web many times during the day for other purposes, so I check my
target sites quite often.
The press releases are then emailed to a group of people. (In the case of the
documents, which can be quite large, those that wish to have the full text,
have to email me back to get a copy. There are not more than 30 people in this
group)

Our IT dept wishes to set up a database on our inhouse system, so that instead
of emailing the items out, I would put them into this file. The homepage
subscription feature then notifies people automatically.

That automates part of the process, with the benefit to the users of not being
deluged with emails from me.

What are the options for automating the ENTIRE process?
- software products? I know that there are products which can be programmed
to download from particular websites automatically & the docs are available on a
local server. The endusers can access them there) Insight Technologies
INSIGHT being one such product.
- contact the organisations to see if they will sell a feed to their data?

Copyright problems ?

I would be keen to know what the standard practice in your organisations might
be.
