The Southern Branch of the Institute of Information Scientists is resuming
its regular programme of evening meetings.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 13th February 2001 commencing at
6.30 pm at the Sekforde Arms, Sekforde Street, Clerkenwell, London.
Nearest Tube: Farringdon.

Our speaker is Karen Blakeman of RBA Information Services and well-known
commentator on the telecoms scene. Her topic for the evening is:

Telecoms: technology, jargon and real life

Reduced to tears by BT's pricing structure? Confused by ADSL, Home
Highway, FRIACO/FIASCO? And is your Internet telephone bill
astronomical despite competition in the telecoms market?
We do not guarantee that we will be able to solve all of your telco
problems, but we will take you gently through the latest technology
and jargon, and explain how current developments in this area affect
all of us as users of the Internet and information services in
general.
If nothing else, there will be a friendly shoulder to cry on and
reassurance that it is not as easy as "they" say it is!

All are welcome to come along for an interesting talk, discussion and free
buffet and an opportunity to network with a group of information
professionals.
