Everything you need to know to create your own Web page:

Creating pages for the WWW - getting started
A one day Library Association workshop on 4 October, in London

How can the World Wide Web be used to promote library/information services?
Find out how to design an interesting, attractive and easy to use site that
will encourage people to read and discover how library/information services
can help them.

By the end of the event participants will have:
* got to grips with the issues and practicalities of being an
information provider on the World Wide Web
* discovered the necessary know-how to create Web pages - using Hyper
Text Mark-up Language (HTML), Hypertext Links, Word Processing Add-ons
* identified what we mean by a well designed Web page - from layout,
use of colour fonts and much more
* looked at how to manage information on a Web page

Who will benefit from attending?
This workshop is for those who are familiar with the Internet and have
probably been using it for some time and want to discover how to harness the
potential of the World Wide Web for promoting their services.

Features
The day includes practical hands-on exercises using Hot Metal Pro which
illustrates similar functions that can be found in Dreamweaver, Front Page
and other Web packages. Participants will also discover how to upload and
activate pages on a Web site.

Throughout the day there will be illustrations of Web pages to illustrate
points being made.
