HERON Liaison Officer
University of Stirling

Salary: £17,278 - £25,969 per annum
Ref: 4314/291.

An exciting opportunity has occurred to join the HERON Project in the key
role of Liaison Officer.

The HERON Project is run by a Partnership consisting of the University of
Stirling, Napier University and South Bank University.
Currently HERON provides a copyright clearance and digitisation service
for Universities and HE Colleges in the UK and is developing a national
database and resource bank of digitised materials. This service is provided
to help Universities to widen access to course materials and improve the
quality of learning throughout higher education. Funding for this project is
provided by the Joint Information Systems Committee of the HE Funding
Councils, under the DNER Programme.

A vacancy has arisen for a Liaison Officer for the HERON Project.
The Liaison Officer will be responsible for providing support for both
existing and would be users, identifying their needs, particularly those of
academic staff and librarians and feeding this information back to the
project. The Liaison Officer will also be responsible for helping to promote
greater use of digital resources in teaching and learning within HEIs and
will take a significant role in evaluation of the HERON service so far. You
must therefore have an understanding of the HE sector and the move towards
online learning; excellent communication and presentation skills, and
experience of evaluation work.

The HERON team works very closely together and so you must be both a good
team player and also able to work on your own. In addition, you must also be
able to work flexibly in support of project goals. Excellent IT skills are
also vital.

Informal enquiries may be directed to Carolyn Rowlinson (tel: 01786 467228)
or Sally Curry (tel: 01786 466616).

Salary will be within the Administrative, Library and Computer Staff Salary
scale 1/2 (£17,278 - £25,969 per annum). The appointment will be until 31
July 2002 in the first instance.
