ASSIGN Visit to the Public Record Office

6th September 2.30pm


ASSIGN (Aslib Social Science Information Group and Network) invites you on a
tour behind the scenes at the Public Record Office which is based in Kew.
The PRO (http://www.pro.gov.uk) is the national archive of England, Wales
and the United Kingdom. It has holdings of central government and courts of
law documents from the 11th century to the present day, including
declassified papers of the British government and census information. The
visit will include a tour of the archive and information centre services.
There will be an opportunity to view some original archival materials and
find out about the content of the collections and access policy of the PRO.

There is no charge for ASSIGN members. Non-members £5.00.
However, as places are limited it is necessary to book early.
