UNIVERSITY OF LONDON LIBRARY
Palaeography Project Assistant (CRA4)
[Re-Advertisment]

The RSLP funded Palaeography Project [web page:www.palaeography.ac.uk] is
seeking an assistant to work on subject enhancement of computer catalogue
records. The Palaeography Collection in the University of London Library
covers all aspects of the study of Western Manuscripts from about 500 A.D.
to the present, with particular emphasis on the period before 1500, and
also archive administration.

The work will concentrate on enhancing MARC records for works in the
Palaeography Collection, assigning Library of Congress Subject Headings in
the first instance, and also additional specialised subject terms. There is
an in-house subject index, which may be helpful in this process.

You will have had experience of on-line cataloguing, using UKMARC, AACR2,
and LCSH. You should also have some knowledge of Western Manuscript Studies
and of a European language other than English. French, German and/or Latin
would be of particular value.

This is a full-time, fixed-term 6-month superannuable appointment, although
a part-time appointment over a longer period might be possible.

Starting Salary based pro-rata in the range
 £16,072 - £18,268 (incl. L.A.)
