The Researcherıs Guide: Online and In Print
--------------------------------------------

The BUFVC is pleased to announce the launch of the Researcherıs Guide:
film, television, radio and related documentation collections in the UK.
This invaluable resource is released as the Researcherıs Guide Online (RGO),
a fully searchable online database via the BUFVC website, and as a
publication, The Researcherıs Guide (the sixth printed edition of the
Researcherıs Guide to British Film & Television Collections).

The Researcher's Guide lists 547 collections, including:
- 118 core radio collections
- 319 core moving image collections
- 110 core documentation collections

THE DATABASE
The Researcherıs Guide Online (www.bufvc.ac.uk/rgo) is a fully searchable
online reference with full collection details - their holdings, access
facilities, cataloguing, online presence (including databases) - with links,
and contacts. The collections include film and television archives,
television companies, radio stations, stockshot and newsreel libraries,
written archives and those in higher and further education. It is a unique
resource for researchers in both academia and industry. Password access to
this site is available for all BUFVC members, and for researchers and
academics in the UK higher and further education community. The database
will be continually updated.

THE BOOK
The book contains all 547 collections, almost double the number in the fifth
(1997) edition, reflecting its widened scope, enhanced as always by articles
and appendixes relevant to film and television research, and by a directory
of film and television researchers. Edited by Jim Ballantyne, with an
introduction
by Professor Nicholas Cull (Leicester University), contributors are Alex
Cowan
(freelance researcher), Tony Dalton (freelance consultant and researcher),
Emanuella Giavarra LLM (Legal Adviser to EBLIDA), Peter Lewis (London School
ofEconomics), Barrie MacDonald (ITC) and James Patterson (MACE).

The Researcherıs Guide costs £39.00, including UK postage and packing.
All BUFVC member institutions will receive one copy of the publication, and
can order further copies at a discount price of £29.00 (UK postage and
packing
included).
