INTRODUCTORY COURSE

This introductory course is aimed at people working as archivists, but who have no formal qualifications, and who feel that they would benefit from some basic grounding in the principles of managing archives. It is also suitable for para-professionals such as archive assistants, reading room staff and records assistants.
The day is an overview comprising five sessions on the main areas of archives and records management. Sessions will last an hour, including ample time for questions.. By chairing and facilitating throughout the day, the BASTD course directors will ensure that the program is integrated and flows well.
A course handbook will be provided, which will contain:
Participants are encouraged to prepare for the course by formulating questions or issues that have arisen in the course of their work, for consideration by the speakers and the class as a whole.
The course fee of £95 also includes lunch (with vegetarian option, please let the directors know if you have any other special dietary needs) and tea and coffee.
