A Chartered Librarian is required to lead the Acute Trust library team in the development and provision of a high quality library and information service to all healthcare workers, including PCG’s, within this newly formed Trust. The successful candidate will develop and provide a service that promotes and supports Clinical Governance.
The post holder will have a minimum of three
years experience managing a clinical or academic library service. A successful
record of staff management and budget experience. With the other Site Librarians
at Redditch and Kidderminster the postholder will be responsible for the library
strategy and business planning, a user education programme and the preparation
of the library service for accreditation by the Regional Library
Unit.
The development of a new Education Centre in
Worcester will provide the postholder with an exciting opportunity to develop
and implement a new library and information service for this site.
Project Management skills are desirable as the
postholder will be involved in the local Information for Health electronic
library initiatives.

A restructuring of our developing library service has led to the creation of two new posts of Information Support Librarians. The postholders will assist in the development and provision of a multidisciplinary library and information service to all Acute Trust staff
Responsibilities will include user education,
stock development, serials management and the development of the Heritage
library system. Candidates should be keen to promote the library’s role in
support of Clinical Governance within the Trust. Experience of library based
information technology including the Internet would be an advantage. The
successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisation skills,
the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Some evening work may
be required. Library management are fully supportive of CPD and there is the
opportunity to work toward chartered status.
