SUPPORTING YOUR CASE USING BUDGETING AND COSTING DATA
12 February 2002, London

With organisations facing tougher competition for funding and resources, and
increasing pressure to offer more for less, it is no longer sufficient to be
able to present the facts and a well-reasoned argument when submitting a
business case.

The ability to produce sound financial information to strengthen a bid is
essential. Whether developing a new service, trying to secure additional
staff, or evaluating income-generating ideas, using and presenting financial
information effectively can help to make an application for funding or
resources successful.

BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING:
This workshop will equip participants with the skills and techniques needed
to effectively evaluate and present the financial data required to support
and present a solid proposal.

BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* practised the key techniques involved in appraising financial information
and making a 'business case' using financial data
* discovered the processes involved in, cost comparison, justifying staffing
structures and budgets, evaluating income generation ideas and using charts
and graphs to illustrate their case
* learnt the skills required to evaluate data and present a case in
effective ways on return to the work place

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Senior managers whose role includes a responsibility to evaluate quality of
service delivery against the cost of delivering that quality. These senior
managers are likely to contribute to service development and service
planning decisions or be seeking imminent promotion to a similar role.

WORKSHOP LEADER: Larraine Cooper
Having had a substantial career in banking which included developing
training in both managerial and financial skills, Larraine set up her own
consultancy in 1986. Since then she has regularly worked with staff in
public, academic and health service libraries, as well as business units and
direct service managers in local authorities and the health service.
