Attendees will learn how to use costing and pricing techniques to manage a service successfully, including identifying costs of services, evaluating the difference between cost and price, setting prices, and identifying the key management issues involved when working within the purchaser/provider split. The workshop also covers internal trading, market testing, tendering and Best Value regimes. By the end of the event participants will have: * identified ways of breaking down costs and allocating them to different activities * calculated hourly rates for charging for professional advice * compared costs with other providers in an informed way Who should attend? Senior library and information professionals who are required to cost parts of their services (such as an hourly rate for professional advice, or a cost per 100 issues) for benchmarking or charging purposes.
