CALIM (The Consortium of Academic Libraries in Manchester) presents a one day course on emotional intelligence, with trainer Deborah Dalley. Tuesday 13th November 2001, 10.00-16.30, Manchester Business School, Manchester. Emotional intelligence is the ability to use our understanding of emotions, in ourselves and others, in order to deal more effectively with people and problems. This session is aimed at all library and information staff and is designed to help participants develop an understanding of what emotional intelligence is, and to recognise how to use emotions more effectively to improve performance. At the end of the course, participants will have: * assessed their current level of emotional intelligence * developed skills to recognise and manage the emotions of others * explored the power of self talk and positive thinking * examined ways of handling anger in themselves and others The cost of the event is £85.00 including refreshments and a buffet lunch.
