A brief description has been provided by Whitaker, further details can be found at <http://www.whitaker.co.uk/libweb1.htm> : "LibWeb is a bibliographic database of in-print ISBNs presented for subscription on the internet, with detailed individual bibliographic records for each book. This contains predominantly English Lanuage Titles. LibWeb includes in-print ISBNs available in the UK." Sites eligible to participate in this Agreement include Higher and Further Education in the UK, Associated Sites, Third Level Colleges in Ireland, SURFdiensten in the Netherlands and NHS Sites. Pricing varies depending on number of concurrent users chosen and category of Site but Institutions which become licensed through this Agreement will receive discounts of between 23 to 46% compared to the current list prices. Access will be available both on and off site for registered subscribers using IP address. At this stage whilst there is interest there is no commitment from Whitaker to use or implementation of Athens Access Management System. More details about this Agreement will be available on the CHEST web site from Tuesday 7th August at <http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/whitaker/> Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control it has not been possible to offer Whitaker LibWeb Global at this point but it is envisaged that this will be added to the Agreement in the near future. BIOSIS Previews Update -------------------------- The new agreement for BIOSIS Previews started on 1st August and sites which currently have access via EDINA are requested to complete new licence forms and return two of these to CHEST as soon as possible, and by 17th August at the latest. The new licence forms include space to indicate your chosen Service Provider (these are Datastar, EDINA, ISI, Ovid and Silverplatter). Pricing is split into 2 parts, data and service provision. The new agreement includes the provision of the back data from 1969/70 to 1984, for which there will be an addional data fee of 15% of the annual fee: Year 1: 1st August 2001 - 31st July 2002: £854.70 (+ VAT) Year 2: 1st August 2002 - 31st July 2003: £880.35 (+ VAT) Year 3: 1st August 2003 - 31st July 2004: £906.75 (+ VAT) Year 4: 1st August 2004 - 31st July 2005: £939.90 (+ VAT) Year 5: 1st August 2005 - 31st July 2006: £961.95 (+ VAT) All pricing, for data and service provision, is available on the web at <http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/biosis/> The annual service provision fee for BIOSIS Previews from ISI includes the backfile so sites wanting to sign with ISI will need to pay the additional data fee. The additional service provision fee from Silverplatter for sites wanting the backfile is: Year 1: £1,900 Year 2: £1,913 Year 3: £1,926 Year 4: £1,726 Year 5: £1,700 Fees for access to the backfile from Datastar, EDINA and Ovid are still to be confirmed. However, EDINA intends to mount the backfile, and while they are assessing the cost, they hope to be able to offer access to current subscribers without charging an additional access fee. If your site is a current subscriber and wishes to access the back data please send an email message requesting this to [log in to unmask] and copy the message to [log in to unmask] Licence forms and the form for adding access to the backfile to your licence are at <http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/biosis/> Sites may choose to access BIOSIS Previews from more than one Service Provider. However, this will incur an additional data fee of 15% of the annual data fee as well as the service provision fee from each Service Provider chosen. OS Sample Data -------------- The provision of OS Sample Data to UK Higher and Further Education Institutions has now been passed to EDINA. Visit <http://edina.ac.uk/ossample/> for further information about the sample data areas and specific products provided. This service will be available from October 2001. Access to the data will be provided through an institutional login, as previously, which will be obtainable from EDINA by contacting the EDINA Helpdesk on [log in to unmask] or 0131 650 3302. Sites requiring this data are therefore requested to contact EDINA. CHEST will have no further responsibility for the licensing of this data. Educational Research Abstracts (ERA) ------------------------------------ CHEST is sorry to announce that we have been unable to conclude an agreement with Taylor Francis for Educational Research Abstracts (ERA). This is due to the fact that we did not receive enough expressions of interest for an arrangement to be able to go ahead. Many thanks to those institutions that replied positively to our requests. e)Latest Data Wishes -------------------- The following is a list of the latest Data Wishes to appear on the CHEST web site.
