Docusend Project
(One Year)

Docusend is a national three-year project to produce a document
request and delivery broker service.  The project will contribute to
the development of the Distributed National Electronic Resource (DNER)
by the production of separate but compatible and inter-operable broker
services.  The Docusend partners include 11 universities, of which
King's College London is the lead side, plus the electronic document
delivery service.

We are now seeking a Technical Officer for one year to provide the
technical support required for the development and implementation of
the Project.  You will manage the Docusend server in conjunction with
technical staff at Edinburgh University, develop the Docusend website,
liaise with other project partners, the user community and software
providers.  The post will also require you to consult widely with and
develop an understanding of related initiatives so excellent
communication skills are essential.

You should have a degree (or equivalent) in computing or a related
subject and, ideally, be able to demonstrate knowledge of UNIX and
familiarity with the Z39.50 protocol.  Experience of library
information systems, knowledge of Oracle software and an understanding
of recent developments in document delivery services and the DNER are
desirable.

Ideally you will be located with the Project Manager in Manchester.
However, we would also consider applications from candidates who could
work from London, Leeds or Birmingham.  Applications from candidates
who wish to seek secondment to this post will be welcomed

Salary will be within ALC Grade 1/2 £16,775-£25,213 per annum.
