SERIALS RESOURCE MANAGEMENT FOR
THE 21ST CENTURY: AN INTRODUCTION

Thursday 31 May 2001
Queen's University Belfast
Peter Froggatt Centre
Belfast
BT7 1LS

A one-day seminar for those involved in the
day-to-day handling of serials

Designed and targeted particularly at staff in the
library, information unit and serials industry
environment new to this subject, the seminar will
also benefit those looking to consolidate and
update their practical experience. The UKSG is
able to call on the extensive experience of its
members in the serials industry to provide expert
speakers from the realms of publishing, librarianship
and the subscription agent.

The training emphasis is on developing a sound
basic understanding of the details of serials
handling in order to promote efficient and informed
working practices. A wide range of day-to-day
issues are covered, with time devoted to recognising
and resolving the problems that can arise at the
boundaries between publishers, agents and libraries.
The seminar will also consider current developments
in the electronic provision of serials which will have a
profound effect on libraries in the future.

Delegates are invited to raise topics of relevance to
their own particular work for discussion in the Open
Forum. Please refer to the booking form.
