            *** Events Announcement : INSPIRAL Workshop ***
*** University of Birmingham, Main Library ***
            *** Tuesday 4th September 2001, 10.00 - 16.00 ***

On Tuesday 4th September 2001, INSPIRAL (INveStigating Portals for
Information Resources And Learning: http://inspiral.cdlr.strath.ac.uk/)
will be holding its final workshop, which will look at the future for
the integration of virtual / managed learning environments and digital
library services in the UK. INSPIRAL would like to invite interested
parties within the HE / FE sector, including educators, librarians,
information scientists, and learning technologists, to attend this
event.

This event will continue INSPIRAL's focus on examining organisational
and end-user (rather than technical) issues and experiences. It is
therefore of particular relevance to those with an interest in teaching
and learning, content and service provision, or institutional
management. Through breakout sessions, open discussion, and
presentations on relevant and related topics, this workshop aims to
build on INSPIRAL's research so far. These findings will be examined in
detail, with the main issues being prioritised, possible solutions
identified and ways forward in integrating virtual / managed learning
environments with digital libraries will be explored. The primary aim
of this workshop is to assist INSPIRAL with making recommendations to
JISC for future research and investment in VLE / MLE and digital library
integration.

This event is free, and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Future INSPIRAL events will be held in Glasgow and Leeds. These will be
learner only forums.

Spaces are limited: please register for the Workshop by Tuesday 28th
August 2001, by contacting: Sharron Brown, INSPIRAL Research Assistant
