the cultural, social, educational and economic life of the North East of
England” NEMLAC’s role is to facilitate the sector’s development across the
Region through: leadership; advocacy; advice; exemplar projects; and service
delivery.
NEMLAC has set itself 10 Strategic Objectives. They seek to address national
initiatives for the sector whilst also placing the sector firmly within the
framework for the regeneration of the region. NEMLAC’s Strategic Objectives
therefore reflect:
§ the aims of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport
§ the Resource Manifesto
§ the (North East) Regional Economic Strategy
§ the emerging (North East) Regional Cultural Strategy
As part of NEMLAC’s aim to fix a significant role for the sector within
the above strategies, and also within regional tourism strategies, sub-regional
social, cultural and economic strategies and other relevant regional re-generation
strategies, NEMLAC has prioritised the development of an accessible and comprehensive
database of sector information, including examples of good practice, which
would be reviewed and updated regularly and be available electronically.
