An E-book Primer, written by Sarah Ormes (UKOLN), is the latest issue paper
from the Networked Services Policy Taskgroup. This paper provides an
introduction to e-books and some of the policy issues they raise for
libraries.

The paper covers

* what is an e-book?
* different technologies used for reading e-books
* integrating e-books into libraries
* benefits and disadvantages of e-books for libraries
* user scenarios

Six copies of this paper have been sent to each public library authority in
the UK. A more detailed version of the paper can be found on the taskgroup's
web site at

http://www.earl.org.uk/policy/issuepapers/

'An E-book Primer' is the 10th issue paper produced by the Networked
Services Policy Taskgroup. The Taskgroup now wishes to assess the success of
its work and is asking readers of the papers to complete a brief
questionnaire. This questionnaire can be completed online and will take only
two to three minutes to complete. The information collected through the
questionnaire will:

* provide a timely user evaluation of the issue papers programme
* help identify and prioritise preparation of suitable topics for future
issue papers
* help develop the taskgroup's Web site

The questionnaire can be found at

http://www.earl.org.uk/policy/issuepapers/survey.html

The Networked Services Policy Taskgroup issue papers are supported by UKOLN,
EARL and the Library Association. Production of the issue papers is project
managed by UKOLN.
