Renewal of CrossFire service ------------------------------ CHEST and MDL Information Systems GmbH are pleased to announce the renewal of the CrossFire Beilstein and Gmelin Agreement. The new agreement commences 1st November 2001 and is for five years, to cover the period to 31st October 2006. The provision of CrossFire under a CHEST Agreement has been available to the education community since November 1996. In providing this new Agreement for the service CHEST has worked very closely in association with JISC and MIMAS in ensuring that the provisions by MDL will meet the needs of current and future users. The service will continue to be provided by MIMAS and there will be a continuation of service during the transfer between the current and new agreement for those Sites that have chosen to renew. For Sites that are not renewing, access to the service will be removed on Thursday 1st November 2001. The service comprises access to CrossFire Beilstein & Gmelin Databases of organic and inorganic data (including CrossFireplusReactions, CrossFireAbstracts and CrossFire EcoPharm);Beilstein Commander; Autonom 2000; CrossFire Web and LitLink/Pro. Note: The LitLink/Pro service will be provided by MIMAS as from 1st February 2002. The CrossFire Web service will be provided by MIMAS within six months of the release of CrossFire Web for academic use by MDL. CrossFire is a comprehensive chemical information management system comprising the CrossFire Beilstein and CrossFire Gmelin databases and the Beilstein Commander and CrossFire Web software which are used to search and access the databases. CrossFire Beilstein contains over 8 million organic compounds, with over 8 million reactions and over 4 million citations. CrossFire Gmelin contains over 1.5 million inorganic and organometallic compounds, 1.3 million reactions and 1 million citations. Searches can be for starting materials, products or for complete reactions, or for factual data or free text, and via hyperlinks one can instantly access information about other substances, their citations and chemical reactions. Autonom is a program, integrated with the Beilstein Commander, which generates IUPAC names for chemical structures. LitLink/Pro allows the user to link directly from citations found in the CrossFire databases to the corresponding on-line full-textarticles. (Note: LitLink does not grant additional access rights to such articles). Full subscription details and information about pricing will be available from the CHEST webpages by Wednesday afternoon, at http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/mdl/ Please address any queries to Emma Thompson, email [log in to unmask] -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Emma Thompson | Tel: + 44 (0)1225 474315 Senior Contracts Officer | Fax: + 44 (0)1225 474301 CHEST | Web: http://www.chest.ac.uk Queen Anne House | Mail to: [log in to unmask] 11 Charlotte Street Bath BA1 2NE CHEST is a service of EduServ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
