There were so many ideas & techniques offered that I thought it would be practical to at least show some of the URLs for programmes that block spams some people are using with varying degrees of
success. They are all downloadable from the 'Net and most basic programmes appear to be free, althought one of the best BRIGHTMAIL is very costly except perhaps for an institution.
Basically one can always set up filters with the ISP but this won't stop all spamming from getting through but still worth a try. Also there were three replies that covered the setting up of TWO
e-mail addresses & Inboxes, using using one for Personal mail and the other for any commercial or etailing(shopping!) thus one hopes that your personal address can't then be made available to the bad
guys who spam us!
Here are some URLs that have proven useful to many respondents:-

http://spamcop.net/
www.mail-abuse.org
http://www.ritlabs.com
http://www.intele.com/InteleCom/internet_resources/combat_spam.htm
http://www.gssnet.com/antispam/spam_articles.htm
www.guidescope.com/home
http://www.brightmail.com/

Doing a Search on a major engine such as GOOGLE is also a very interesting exercise1

Thanks everybody, so many so little time!
