The new EEVL service is now available at http://www.eevl.ac.uk/ EEVL provides access to quality engineering, mathematics and computing information resources and aims to be the focal point for online access to information in these subject areas. The new service allows cross-searching of a catalogue of over 7,000 quality Internet resources in all three subject areas, along with a search engine which searches the full text of web sites included in the catalogue. In addition there are searchable and browsable sections for each subject. Search results are ranked according to criteria aiming to deliver the best records first. In addition, there are numerous other services such as the Recent Advances in Manufacturing bibliographic database, Web tutorials, an Engineering E-journal Search Engine, links to Literature Searching, Current Awareness and Jobs & Recruitment sites, etc. Although the new service has been completely redesigned to allow easy access to all subjects, it works in a similar way to the old EEVL service, so regular users should find it easy to become familiar with the new features. Further improvements will be made to the service over the coming weeks, and a new Reference Guide will be available shortly. Leaflets for the new service are available - please email me stating the number required. EEVL is a collaborative service run and hosted by Heriot Watt University, who also produce the Engineering section in partnership with Cranfield University (Aerospace & Defence section of Engineering), the University of Birmingham (MathGate) and the University of Ulster (Computing). Technical input for the Service is provided by the Institute for Computer Based Learning (ICBL) . The Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, The Nottingham Trent University, the University of Sheffield, LTSN Maths, Stats and OR Network also contribute to the service. EEVL is part of the Resource Discovery Network (RDN). If you have any feedback on the new service, please contact me.
