Apologies for cross posting *********************************************** Reminder - a number of places are still available for the two workshops. Book soon to avoid disappointment. Following the success of an earlier WebExpress workshop, OCLC Europe, the Middle East & Africa are pleased to announce two additional workshops to be held in Birmingham and Glasgow. Are you in search of a hybrid library solution? Do you want to provide your users with simple simultaneous searching of a library's resources through one customised web-based interface? The key to integration provided by OCLC WebExpress is the Z39.50 standard information retrieval protocol. However, WebExpress provides "manual free" access to Z39.50 compliant resources by allowing non-technical staff to simply select from a list of databases and server configurations already tested by OCLC. Within just a few hours, you can easily connect to all your Z39.50 electronic resources. WebExpress also keeps you up-to-date by automatically posting resource configuration upgrades from the central OCLC WebExpress Service Centre. If there is a Z39.50 resource which you would like to access which we do not currently offer, simply let us know and, where possible, we will undertake the necessary configuration and testing before adding it to the Service Centre The OCLC WebExpress software itself is easy to use. A series of simple wizards guide you through the installation and customisation of your integrated gateway. With your library name placed prominently on each page of the user interface, WebExpress will reinforce your position as the key information provider to your user community. Further information about OCLC WebExpress is available on the OCLC web site at http://www.oclc.org/webexpress/ To learn more about the OCLC WebExpress service and have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, register for a free workshop at our offices in Birmingham on Tuesday 23rd January or at Glasgow University on Wednesday 28th February.
