DNER Collections Update
Please circulate widely in UKFE and UKHE
****************************************

Dear Colleagues,

The JISC is pleased to announce arrangements for some of
its negotiation and subscription services.

1. 2002 Journal Negotiations

We have agreed an extension of the current NESLI Managing
Agent contract to ensure the NESLI service continues
uninterrupted during 2002. For information about NESLI,
please see http://www.nesli.ac.uk/

2. Subscription Collection for Recent Dataset Agreements

We are finalising arrangements with Swets Blackwells to
invoice and collect subscriptions before the end of July
for sites licensing AMICO, the Cochrane Library, Gale
Infotrac OneFile and Custom Newspapers, KnowUK/KnowEurope,
LION, Ordnance Survey, SCRAN, and British Standards Index
Online collections. Further information will be
circulated shortly.

3. The Longer Term Way Forward

A strategic steering group continues to scope a new way
forward for DNER negotiation/subscription activities. This
panel is taking into account an array of complicated legal
and financial issues, and will report to the community when
its deliberations are concluded. There will clearly be a
further tendering process for negotiation/subscription
activities in due course. It is not anticipated that any
further contract extensions for services will take place
without a full tendering process.

We are also very pleased to announce that Alison McNab,
currently in the Library at Loughborough University, will
be joining the JISC as a Collections Manager from July.
Alison will be responsible for taking a stragic lead on
journals in the DNER.

4. Other Negotiations

The DNER team will continue to negotiate for strategic
datasets, ebooks, image collections, etc.

5. Further announcements

Additional information will be circulated to the community
be email in due course, and will also appear online at:
