Subject: On-line Inter-Library Loan forms. Here at the Manchester Metropolitan University we're interested in offering online Inter-Library Loan forms over our web-site (we're finding there's a high demand from distance users).
Ideally, this would be for both book loans and photocopied articles from journals.
However, there are a couple of questions we need help with:
Firstly, how to get the signature needed for copyright declaration when requesting the photocopy of an article or part of a published work? The simplest way seems to ask the requester to print out an online ILL form (included on our website) ask them to complete and sign it, then send it to us in the post.
Secondly, how to generate payment? One possible solution would be to set up an ILL account on their borrower record which is debited every time a request is made (to which they would need to clear when next in the library).
Any advice or good practice from other libraries currently offering a similar service, would be greatly appreciated.
Please reply to me at [log in to unmask]
Regards,
Julian
