OUTSOURCING: practice and opportunity in libraries, museums and archives

CPI Library and Information Policy Seminar, Stamford, Thursday 22 March
2001

In 2000, Resource commissioned Bournemouth University and CPI Ltd. to
research Outsourcing and Externalisation in Libraries, Museums and Archives.
This seminar provides the first opportunity to discuss the outcomes of the
study and its implications. It will outline major findings and key issues,
and give opportunities to compare perspectives and examples of current
practice from the three domains, together with a view of public sector
outsourcing from the suppliers' angle.

The seminar will help managers from libraries, museum and archive services
to understand the range and scope of outsourcing arrangements and
partnerships with the private sector, the reasons for their growth, how they
work, the issues involved, and future trends.

The first CPI Seminar of 2001, on 1st March, which focused on joint working
between libraries, museums and archives, proved to be a very stimulating
and well-attended event. Prompt booking is recommended to secure a place on
this occasion.
