** NeLH available from NISS on 1st March 2001

The NeLH (National electronic Library for Health) web site hosted by NISS
will be launched officially on 1st March 2001.
Following negotiations with the NHS (NeLH), EduServ have been awarded the
contract to host the NeLH web site. The National electronic Library for
Health is a new NHS web site for health professionals providing up-to-date
best practice information on diagnosis and treatment and is working with
NHS Libraries to develop a digital library for NHS staff, patients and the
public. This site will be officially 'live' on 1st March 2001.
The NeLH provides access to the Clinical Evidence and the Cochrane Library
databases.
* Clinical Evidence has been licensed for all NHS staff and service
providers in the NHS in England and Scotland. It provides a regularly
updated guide to evidence about the effectiveness of care.
* The Cochrane Library is an electronic publication designed to supply
high quality evidence to inform people providing and receiving care, and
those responsible for research, teaching, funding and administration at
all levels. (See next item for more information about access to the
Cochrane Library.)
The NeLH web site will be available at www.nelh.nhs.uk. The server will be
maintained and managed within the NISS division of EduServ.
** Cochrane Library available now

The NeLH Cochrane Library is now freely available to HE, FE and NHS sites
in England via Athens.
The Cochrane Library is also hosted by NISS and is freely available to the
following users: UK HE England, UK FE England and NHS England via Athens
at URL http://www.nelh.nhs.uk/cochrane.asp. Sites registered under Athens
have now been allocated access.
This Cochrane Library service has been funded by the NeLH for an initial
period of one year. The database content will be updated quarterly.
