Have you had Millennium staff modules installed on your system but cannot
decide when/how to take the plunge and start using MillCirc, MillSer and
MillAcq?

During the recent IUG conference in Santa Clara, several users from the UK
discussed the possibility of a regional training workshop on Innopac to
Millennium migration. After talking to Aaron Blazer we thought a two-day
training workshop, with one day on MillCirc and one day on MillAcq/
MillSer, might be appropriate. Having attended an earlybird (7.30am!)
online demo of MillCat I did not feel that MillCat was ready for prime
time just yet though I very much liked the new global update feature.

I have contacted Debbie Turner, a trainer based in Bristol, but her
schedule is very full with no free slot before the end of July. Although
she cannot be certain at this stage the first two weeks of August might be
a possibility. I realise it may not be an ideal time for everybody but am
wondering how many people might be interested in such a training workshop.
It will be aimed at experienced users of the character-based system in
need of a kick-start on the use of Millennium staff functions and will
involve hands-on sessions.

The workshops will be run on a cost-share basis and if there are 8 people
in each workshop the cost per person per day will be 165 pounds. If there
are more attendees the cost per person could be lower. We don't expect
the same person to attend both days, so effectively there will be two
separate one-day workshops on consecutive days.

Unless anyone has a burning desire to host this workshop we are happy to
host it in Bangor. We hope to be able to arrange overnight accommodation
in halls of residence for those who need it.

If you are interested in attending, or sending someone on your staff to
attend, one of these workshops (please state which one) please let me know
by email as soon as possible and before Wednesday 6th June. We need to
find out the level of interest in order to decide if these workshops are
viable. Once we decide to go ahead I will ask each site interested to
send us a purchase order, as we in turn will have to send a purchase order
to Innovative.

Incidentally, I know there is some interest in a regional load-profile
workshop but I overheard a question from Canadian users during the IUG
conference and Innovative's reply was that due to recent staff changes
they could not contemplate any load-profile training outside Emeryville at
least until next year.
