In reply to Judy Thomas' message:

The NESLI Managing Agent does appreciate the problems of trying
to get off-campus access via Athens authentication to NESLI
electronic journals on or via SwetsnetNavigator, and is working to
diminish the problems as much as possible.

As Judy has stated, there are two distinct problems:

The first is that not all publishers are willing to accept the
SwetsNetNavigator (SnN) proxy, and therefore they insist on
enforcing IP-address (or their own username/password) validation
when the user follows the link from SnN to the full-text on the
publisher's server. However several publishers do accept the SnN
proxy, and will allow a user who has logged into SnN via Athens to
access full-text from their servers without a further authentication
challenge. We will continue to try to persuade more publishers to
accept the SnN proxy.

The second is that a NESLI/SnN URL for a specific journal title
currently requires IP-address authentication. If an off-campus user
clicks on such a URL, they will get a rejection message and an
NESLI/Athens login box, so they can then login to SnN and browse
for the required title. We are currently working on an enhancement to
this so that the after logging in the user will automatically be
positioned in SnN at the specific journal title requested, instead of at
the list of journal titles. Once this has been done there will no longer
be the need to maintain two URLS (the specific one for on-campus
users, and the NESLI login page for off-campus users) for titles in
SwetsnetNavigator.
