Dear all

The ILT-GENERAL list currently has over 550 subscribers. We would like to
encourage discussion of matters related to the Learning and Teaching agenda
including the role of the ILT.

You may make yourself known to other subscribers on the list by posting a
short biography detailing your areas of interest and expertise, saying what
help you can offer others, and saying in what areas you would particularly
like help in order to improve how you support learning and teaching.

For example, I am the ILT Publications Officer. My responsibilities include
the design of ILT publications including application forms, the ILT
newsletter and the ILT website. I have a degree in zoology from the
University of Leeds, a PGCE in early years education and a Masters degree in
curriculum studies from the Institute of Education. I have been a 'house
husband' and taught for three years as an Infant Teacher. In addition to my
job for the ILT I am currently teaching an evening class for the European
Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) for which my main qualification is that I've
been using computers since 1982.

One of the hardest parts of my work is striking the right balance in making
documents available electronically without disenfranchising any particular
group. I need to make allowances for the range of operating systems and
applications software that people in HE use, and their range of computer
expertise.

Lastly, to prevent the ILT-GENERAL list from becoming a posting board for
events, anyone who wishes to advertise an event to ILT members should send
the event details to [log in to unmask] rather than to the ILT-GENERAL list.
The event can then be advertised in the Members' Resource Area on the ILT
website.
