Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Volcanic Seismology at the Department of Geology & Geophysics, University of Edinburgh. http://www.glg.ed.ac.uk/ The EU has just funded project VOLCALERT, a European consortium whose aims are to develop practical techniques for forecasting eruptions and communicating the results to non- specialists. At Edinburgh our aim is to develop techniques to identify precursors, assess their predictive capability using time-to-failure analysis, and to determine their physical significance. We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in geophysics or a cognate discipline, with skills in data analysis and computer modelling. The post is for two years at an annual salary in the range £16,775- £25,213 (under review).
