Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Volcanic Seismology

at the Department of Geology & Geophysics, University of
Edinburgh. http://www.glg.ed.ac.uk/

The EU has just funded project VOLCALERT, a European
consortium whose aims are to develop practical techniques for
forecasting eruptions and communicating the results to non-
specialists.

At Edinburgh our aim is to develop techniques to identify
precursors, assess their predictive capability using time-to-failure
analysis, and to determine their physical significance. We are
seeking a candidate with a PhD in geophysics or a cognate
discipline, with skills in data analysis and computer modelling. The
post is for two years at an annual salary in the range £16,775-
£25,213 (under review).

A formal advert will be placed in EOS soon, but we welcome
inquiries and expressions of interest at this stage, to
