The University of Basel invites applications for a

Professorship in General and Applied Petrology

Depending on qualifications the position will be on the level of assistant
professor or associate professor. The position is tenure-track for both
levels.

The Department of Earth Sciences expects the successful candidate to have
a comprehensive knowledge of Mineralogy and Petrology and to link the Earth
Sciences with the newly developed curriculum in Environmental Geosciences.
She or he will teach introductory and advanced courses in Metamorphic
and Magmatic Petrology and parts of the Environmental Geochemistry.
The research of the new professorship should focus on the application of
field-petrological concepts and methods to problems related to human impact on the environment.
