This is a repeat of a call for papers that went out earlier this year. Please do apply if you have something that might fit our criteria!

Don Yoder Prize Call for Submissions.

The Folk Belief and Religious Folklife Section of the American Folklore Society invites submissions for the Don Yoder Prize for the Best Student paper in Folk Belief or Religious Folklife, which carries a $100 honorarium, to be awarded at the AFS 2001 Annual Meeting in Anchorage, Alaska. Papers written by undergraduate or graduate students on the topic of folk belief or religious
folklife (broadly construed) that have been presented (or accepted for presentation) at a conference or colloquium, or papers that have been published (or accepted for publication) in a scholarly journal or book within the last two years are eligible. Conference papers must be fully footnoted for a reading audience. One submission per person, please. Judges this year are Andy Kolovos (Indiana University at Bloomington), Patrick Polk (UCLA) and Maria Teresa Agozzino (UC Berkeley).

Applicants should send the following materials to Elizabeth Nixon at the address below: (1) three copies of the paper, (2) a
cover letter specifying the conference or colloquium where the paper has been or will be presented or where it has been or will be published, (3) a short (100-word) biographical statement about the author and (4) a letter from a faculty sponsor endorsing submission of the paper (please note this letter should accompany the submission of your paper rather than being sent separately). Papers must be received by August 25, 2001, to be considered.
