I spoke to David Smith at the OIC and he confirmed there will be a (heated?) debate as opposed to a conference on the 28th June to discuss the practical issues of complying with RIPA and the DPA. This will not be a public talk, attendees will be invited and will be made up largely of those who replied with comments to the OIC on the draft CoP 'The use of personal data in employer/employee relationships'.
Employer quoting the RIPA, whilst employees are quoting the DPA at Industrial Tribunals. (picture that)
I look forward to the final CoP, which will reflect the issues I am sure will be discussed on the 28th June.
