The University of Manchester has just made available a JISC-commissioned
report on electronic document management (EDM), written in August 2000. It
is located at http://www.man.ac.uk/intra/subproj/proj17.htm
This report should be of particular interest to senior administrative or
academic managers, IT managers, and those with an interest in electronic
records-keeping or on-line business processes.
The report is based on the experience of the University of Manchester in
procuring and implementing an electronic document management system. It
provides a meta-evaluation of electronic document management software, with
an overview of the key issues to consider in this type of software
evaluation, together with topics of specific interest to a UK higher
education environment. The aim of the report is to assist the university
sector by providing criteria to simplify this type of software evaluation.
