Novell ZENWorks provides, among other facilities, the ability for an administrator to remotely view a user's PC display without the user knowing that he/she is being 'watched'. There are many benefits in administering PCs via this product, for example centralised control of software installation, but the remote viewing facility provides a technical means of staff surveillance which may be cause for concern. What should staff be told about its adoption? Introducing the product would only be practical if it was for all PCs so how could objections from a few people be accomodated?
