I am currently completing my honours project on 'The Application of Data
Protection in UK Universities', and have already received a lot of help
from the list members.

I am currently stuck, I want to write a chapter on codes of practice, their
advantages over using the legislation. I am aware that CoP are not legally
enforceable and merely offer a basis for good practice.

I would be very interested to hear other peoples views on whether codes of
practice are good or bad, or whether they merely complicate matters by
placing the controllers in a position of confusion?

Thank you.
