Activists are still reeling from grief and shock and planned protests have been cancelled or scaled back. For the moment, globalization has taken a back seat to concerns of terrorism, war and peace. Meanwhile, the US Trade Representative tells us that free trade is part of the "War on Terrorism," in an attempt to ram through Washington's trade agenda And right wing pundits, from a US congressman to Italy's president, are attempting to falsely paint anti-globalization protestors as terrorists. On this, the one month anniversary of the World Trade Center bombing, CorpWatch Executive Director Joshua Karliner looks at the challenges facing the movement against corporate globalization. He examines three key areas: Finding new ways to keep the movement relevant; How to address Efforts to discredit activists by equating them with terrorism; And strategies to regain momentum by working for peace, justice and grassroots globalization. We hope this piece will contribute to an ongoing dialogue about where to go from here.
