I am not wishing to stir up the controversy over Job Applications any
further, not even on a Bank Holiday Friday, but I would warmly support
Janice Taylor's suggestion of Regional Cataloguing Units. Such units might
well give continuity of employment to those who wished to specialise in this
area, whether early in their careers or (as in my case) pretty much at the
end of them! And how else are we going to set up a mechanism, once and for
all, to get on top of the inherited backlogs which continue to dog so many
repositories? Can we be said to be really giving Best Value until we have
an answer in place for this problem?
