THREE RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSTS

Each 0.5 fte

Salary  £  £9,743 + £1,067 London Weighting  (Pro-rata of  £19,486  + £2,134
)


The three 0.5 fte postholders will be employed from 1 February 2002 for one
year, to produce web-based materials for postgraduate  research training in
the Romance Languages. This project, which forms part of the HEFCE-funded
'Collaboration in Research' programme of the University Council of Modern
Languages, is coordinated by the Institute of Romance Studies (School of
Advanced Study, University of London), in collaboration with the School of
Modern Languages at Queen Mary, University of London and the Joint Research
Training Programme in Italian at Royal Holloway, University of
London/University College London/University of Reading.  One postholder will
work on French materials under the supervision of Prof. Michael Moriarty,
Queen Mary, University of London; another on Spanish and Portuguese
materials under the supervision of Prof. Jo Labanyi, Institute of Romance
Studies (project coordinator); the third on Italian materials under the
supervision of Dr Guido Bonsaver, Royal Holloway, University of London. All
three will collaborate in the production of non-language-specific materials.

Applicants should have completed or be about to complete a PhD in the
relevant language area(s), and should have good organisational skills and
good IT skills, preferably including web-authoring. They will be responsible
for: collating information on academic resources in France, Spain, Portugal
and Italy; identifying training needs; identifying academic consultants;
developing training materials in liaison with academic consultants; testing
and evaluating the materials in liaison with appropriate staff and students;
liaising with IT consultant on web design, architecture, links and keywords;
formatting the materials according to the IT consultant's specifications.
