We also perform filter paper tests for glucose. I regret I have no experience of insulin by this appraoch. (We do measure finger prick prolactin occasionally in epileptics but that's another story.) For glucose the reading method has changed (we now use the Roche Modular), however our basic elution procedure is based on two papers from the 80s: Watts, Thaker and West, Ann Clin Biochem. 1985, 22: 653 Burrin and Price, Ann Clin Biochem 1984; 21:411-16.
