Postdoctoral position in theoretical chemistry

A postdoctoral position in available IMMEDIATELY at the University of
California, Irvine in the research group of Prof. Craig C. Martens.
Opportunities exist for involvement to two general areas:

--The development of semiclassical methodology and its application to complex
condensed phase dynamical processes. Our particular interests are in
ultrafast photodynamics, nonadiabatic processes, many-body quantum coherent
processes and application to quantum computation, electronic dephasing and
decoherence, tunneling, and other complex physical processes. This work
focuses on (but is not restricted to) using methods based on the
semiclassical limit of the quantum Liouville equation.

--Studies of many-body ultrafast dynamical in far-from-equilibrium systems
using molecular dynamics simulation, novel methods of nonstationary time
series analysis, and analytic methods. This work combines large-scale
molecular dynamics simulation of many-body systems with data analysis based
on nonstationary time series analysis (e.g., the Wigner-Ville or wavelet
transforms). These numerical experiments, in turn, provide inspiration for
the development of new analytic approaches to describing ultrafast nonlinear
dynamics in nonequilibrium systems. Contact is made with experiment, both
through comparison with existing ultrafast spectroscopy measurements and the
proposal of new experimental (or gedanken-experimental) contexts in which to
observe complex condensed phase phenomena.

more of the following areas: large-scale molecular dynamics simulation
methodology, theoretical aspects of nonlinear spectroscopy, nonadiabatic
molecular dynamics, nonlinear dynamics, semiclassical mechanics.
