In descriptions of medieval wire making there are repeated references to small thin strips being cut from sheet stock by "slitting" This thin strip is then drawn through dies to create round wire. As part of a research project into medieval maille I need to duplicate the medieval tools and practise as closely as possible. I would greatly appreciate a description of whhich tools were used in the process as well as a description of how they were used. Approximate period would be from the 13th to 15th century western European practise. Thank you, Mark
