Dublin are organising an interdisciplinary conference on "Music and
Literature in German Romanticism", from 8 to 10 December 2000,
just after term ends (for us at UCD, anyway, hopefully for others
too!)
The conference organisers gratefully acknowledge the financial

The conference runs from 1pm on Friday 8 December to 1pm on
Sunday 10 December. The key-note speakers are
- Prof Dr Werner Keil (Paderborn/Detmold)
- Prof Steven Paul Scher (Detmold, US)
- Prof Susan Youens (Notre Dame, US)
There are sessions on:
Hoffmann, Wagner, Musical Aesthetics, Lieder, Goethe, Later
Echoes of German Romanticism, Other German Romantic Writers.
Speakers from Ireland, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Australia,
the US, Belgium and Greece are taking part.
There is a "Lieder"-recital on Saturday midday by Philip O'Reilly
(bass-baritone) and Fergal Caulfield (piano).
