In regard to the discussion about registering thesauri, I direct your attention to the design work done by the NKOS (Networked Knowledge Organization Systems) group toward a metadata structure for Knowledge Organization Systems). See <www.alexandria.ucsb.edu/~lhill/nkos> for a NKOS Draft Registry Description Attributes and a Taxonomy of Knowledge Organization Systems. Comments on these efforts are welcome. The intent was to provide the basis for self-registration of KOS by the owners/producers through a public registry site, but the same structure could be used for the database design for a registry built by a third party. - Linda Hill
