I am beginning a work about qualitative analysis for population studies. At
first sight, it
may sound a little odd to use a qualitative approach to study phenomena
like fertility, mortality, migration and more generally for topics related
to demography, which mainly deals with high number of people.
I have the feeling that most users of qualitative softwares, which deal
with huge amounts of qualitative data, are overall sociologists,
psychologists
and/or anthropologists, and very few are demography-oriented, as far as this
distinction between disciplines is meaningfull. But at the same time,
innovative
studies are underway in this area which some people call "qualitative
demography". I wonder whether these questions are of any interest to you. If
ever you know publications or studies about that, I would be very
interested.
Thanks.
