There will be a seminar, as part of the East Midlands Local Group of the Royal Statistical Society, on Thursday 12th October at 4.30pm (Tea 4pm) given by Tony O'Hagan on Bayesian approaches to cost-effectiveness analyses. ALL ARE VERY WELCOME. Bayesian cost-effectiveness analysis in clinical trials. Tony O'Hagan University of Sheffield ABSTRACT The question of cost-effectiveness of medicines and medical treatments is becoming increasingly important. The UK has established NICE (the National Institute for Clinical Excellence) to advise the NHS on the most effective and cost-effective treatments, and similar moves are taking place in many other countries. The area of health economics, in which these questions arise, is relatively young and there are many important open questions for statisticians to address. I will present some methods appropriate in the context where economic data are collected alongside efficacy outcomes for patients in a clinical trial. VENUE The seminar will take place at 4.30pm in G20 of the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health, University of Leicester, 22-28 Princess Road West, LEICESTER, and will be preceded by tea and biscuits from 4.00pm.
