The following two full-time research vacancies are now available, based at
the Institute of 
Development studies, Sussex.

Research Assistant - ELDIS

A research assistant is required for the Eldis Gateway to Development
Information (www.eldis.org). The post involves researching and
producing abstracts of online information for inclusion on the Eldis
Internet site and general support for development of the service.
Excellent writing and communication skills are essential, and a relevant
qualification in development studies is desirable. Experience of using
the internet as a research tool and of working with databases is also
needed. The appointment is to start as soon as possible and initially
 runs until 31 December 2000. Salary: £16,775 p.a.

Research Assistant - GDN

A research assistant is needed to support work on an internet-based
prototype for the Global Development Network (www.gdnet.org). GDN
aims to generate and share development knowledge which can be
applied to policy. The work will involve writing abstracts of
southern-produced development literature and helping create an
organisational database. The assistant will also help to coordinate a
focus group of southern-based institutions and other international
technical contributors. Excellent writing and communication skills are
essential, and a relevant qualification in development studies is
desirable. Experience of using the internet as a research tool and of
working with databases is also needed. The appointment will be
full-time for 5 months, starting as soon as possible. Salary: £16,775
 p.a. notional.
